Clothing In Chaos? Quick & Easy Ways To Organize Your Closet!
Isn’t it amazing how quickly a well-organized closet can turn into a cupboard of doom?! It’s simply impossible to keep everything shipshape and it only takes a few days for all your tidying efforts to come undone. Having a closet that you can actually find things in has huge benefits – it starts your day off in a far less stressful manner, and when you pull out your clothes they will be wonderfully crease-free rather than being heaped in a bundle on the floor! There are some really great quick-fixes to ensure that the messiest of closets can get straight in seconds. Follow our tips for a nightmare-free closet with proper organization:
You need to divide your clothes up so that they are stored in a logical manner. You can either do this by type (e.g. dresses, skirts, tops etc.), by season (fall, winter, summer etc.) or by color. Whichever method you choose, apply it to the whole closet so that everything has its own section. You’ll be amazed at how much more orderly this makes the closet, how much easier it is to find something, and how easy it is to maintain order. If you wear a uniform for work or school then have a separate section for this too.
An Organized Underwear Drawer or Shelf
Underwear is probably the hardest thing to store in an organized fashion! However, it is possible, so get to work pairing up socks and folding things so that they are separated up. Keep all of your underwear in one place such as a drawer or a shelf in the closet so you know exactly where it is at all times. Throw away items that you don’t wear anymore – they are just taking up space so have a really good clear-out.
Have a Shoe System
Shoes can really add to the clutter in a closet, so get to work creating a system for shoe storage that keeps things a bit tidier. You could either have some shelves made that are designed especially for shoe storage, or get a shoe rack to keep the shoes tidy. Whichever method you use, always keep shoes together, and think about storing larger shoes like winter boots somewhere else in the house – they take up an awful amount of space.
What is the point of harboring clothing and shoes that you are never going to wear again? Do yourself a favor and get rid of them – you can pass them onto friends or give them to a charity shop so that they don’t go to waste. Any clothes that are too tatty to be passed on need to be thrown out in the trash – be brutal! You may have promised yourself that you were going to mend that coat, but will you actually ever get around to it?!
An organized closet is a wonderful thing – all of those clothes that you cherish so much and worked so hard to buy will last a lot longer if they are stored in a neat fashion.
